Effective from December 15, 2023, applicants for citizenship by investment applicants will be required to undergo mandatory interviews, adding additional layer of security checks, doing thorough assessment for every applicant. The interview is conducted as part of the enhanced due diligence compliance team by the Citizenship by Investment Unit (CIU) of Antigua and Barbuda.

Interviews will be scheduled by authorized agents and will duly inform the applicant with date and time. The interview typically occurs:

  • Before final approval
  • After submission of the complete application
  • After background checks have commenced

Interview Guidelines

Here’s a quick rundown of the key points outlined in the memo:

  1. Mandatory Interview: Applicable main applicants and dependents aged 16 or older.
  2.  Interview Fee: A new administrative fee of USD 1,500 per application has been introduced to cover the costs associated with the mandatory interview process.
  3. Personal Appearance: All members included in the application must be present during the virtual interview. Must verify National identification documents submitted with the application file are also required for verification.
  4.  Virtual Interviews: The interviews will be conducted virtually by independent service providers designated by the Citizenship unit. This approach aligns with the current virtual Oath of Allegiance calls conducted alongside licensed agents.
  5.  Language: interviews will primarily be conducted in English, alternative arrangements can be made if necessary for a translator.

Applicants must appear for interview alone. Agents or third parties are not allowed to participate.

Authorities may question about the following which may take about 15-20 months.

  • Verify Identity – Full Name, Birth date (show valid passport and ID cards)
  • Current residence and immigration status
  • Purpose of applying for Antigua and Barbuda citizenship.
  • Occupation, Work and Employment status.
  • Source of wealth and funds
  • Any other information you have filled in the application form.
  • Personal and business background.
  • Future plans to visit Antigua and Barbuda.
